At Harmony Smile Dental in Sunnyvale, California, we welcome you to our online “home.” We look forward to becoming your family dental “home” with the care that lives up to our name. Led by our dentist, Dr. Ryan Zhuoran Zhao, we bring beautiful harmony to smiles marred by enamel erosion, tooth decay, gingival inflammation, gum disease, misalignment, and various other conditions that interfere with the healthy, comfortable function and the attractive appearance that exudes confidence. Our team also restores or maintains oral health and beauty with an approach to care and surroundings that exude relaxation, warmth, and, well, harmony!
Preventive services
Much of what we do at Harmony Smile Dental revolves around fundamental, routine dental checkups. These checkups are designed to prevent oral conditions that lead to time-consuming, costly, and invasive restorative treatments. Checkups include a thorough exam by Dr. Zhao to identify problems such as tooth decay, periodontal disease, oral pre-cancers, and cancerous lesions early when they are easiest to resolve successfully, conservatively, and quickly.
Regular appointments also include professional dental cleanings by our skilled hygienists. They can remove stubborn plaque or tartar that inflames tissues and erodes teeth. Tartar cannot be removed with standard toothbrushes and OTC products. During these visits, generally scheduled once every six months, Dr. Zhao may also provide additional preventive services. Depending on your needs, we may apply dental sealants to protect decay-prone back teeth provide fluoride supplementation to remineralize the teeth. Or design custom oral appliances to protect the teeth from damage caused by conditions ranging from teeth grinding to sports-related oral injuries.
Restorative dentistry
Dr. Zhao’s skill and advanced technologies may be applied to rebuild natural tissues (gums, teeth, and supporting bone) in a way where the replacement tissues look and feel natural and function naturally for a lifetime. Depending on the extent of dental or periodontal damage, we may recommend any one or a combination of the following procedures to restore healthy oral structure:
- Fillings to repair cavities
- Dental inlays or onlays as an alternative to fillings for larger cavities
- Crowns to repair more extensive damage
- Root canal therapy to preserve a badly decayed or damaged tooth
- Tooth replacement with dental implants, which function like tooth roots to stabilize everything from a single crown to a complete denture
- Invisalign®, the removable and discreet alternative to conventional fixed braces to straighten teeth
Cosmetic procedures
Our team is acutely aware of the role that the appearance of your teeth and gums plays in a central feature of your face: your smile! When you don’t feel good about how your smile looks, your confidence suffers. You may hide your smile and retreat from social or professional opportunities. We take great pride in restoring or preserving attractive smiles that emanate self-confidence. Some dental services, such as professional whitening or indirect or direct veneers (dental bonding), are designed to correct cosmetic imperfections – from stains to chips and gaps between teeth.
Other services, such as dental restorations like fillings or orthodontic appliances like Invisalign®, are primarily restorative treatments. However, these treatments have cosmetic effects. For instance, tooth-colored fillings are designed to blend in seamlessly with the surrounding teeth, while Invisalign® straightens teeth innocuously with clear plastic aligners – not stainless-steel wires and brackets!
